Another factor may be the door weight. Apparently the door isn't that much heavier on the 1975. I have the 1975 and have never regretted it. Especially given that cost difference isn't that much. Side note. I have a Weber Mastertouch 22". Almost every time I use it, I wish I would have paid a little extra and gotten the 26".
