Once you're at ops 34+, have a decently tiered Vidar, and are regularly hunting level 33 probes (and filling up your cargo hold each run), the optimal crew reduces to what I listed above.

The Talios has much, much higher damage, penetration and mitigation stats. Plus the ship ability (the damage buff vs Borg) is higher on the tier 1 Talios than a tier 9 Vidar. Adding the Lower Decs crew and using the remaining below deck crew slots to pad out the stats on the Vidar, its still not as good as a that tier 1 Talios.

So it makes good sense to attempt to scrap whenever possible. Keep mining that 2* and keep upgrading these ships, they pay off very well. As you start getting closer to level 39, you're going to want to tier up either a Legionary, D3 or Mayflower to scrap. I can't crew it like an augur but the ship ability isn't the same. I was considering gorkon, hg worf and someone else. It has a kinetic weapon and energy weapons so crit seems ok. Kirk spock isn't effective at higher levels either.On a B'Rel (Explorer) you want great defense and shields. So I'd go with either Kirk (capn)+Spock+Kang or 5/10 (capn)+9/10+Kang.
