It is a really good skill, but I found myself needing to keep my left hand free and skill slot free from a lexicon as a bigger benefit. If you are going full rune magic with no need to ever get in there and get dirty then Syntax could be worth it.. I was having fun mixing up heavy weapons, sword and shield while doing full rune magic which was an awesome mixup.
