I can't remember for sure but I seem to remember the 3800 being like the 3400/3100 motors and you'l have to remove the pushrods to replace the gaskets which means you'll want to pull the front valve cover.The 3800 simply does not kill head gaskets. If you are losing coolant, get the UIM and LIM gasket issues addressed, and flush coolant. You're probably thinking of the 60 degree motor. When I changed the LIM gaskets on a supercharged 3800, all the bolts were readily accessible, at least after you removed any sludge hiding them.1) disconnect the ECT. 2) connect resistances 1400, 93, and 55 ohms in turn and observe guage. 3) guage should read min, mid, and max temperature. This tested out just fine. 1400 ohms is for 40°C, and the min in the guage is 40°C. 93 ohms is for 120°C, and the exact mid positon is 120°C. Likewise for the max.lower intake manifold removal.
