Today my sister sent photos from her iPhone 13 to my iPhone 13 and they appeared as .heic files, a format I had not previously seen. I cannot view them and I cannot save them to files or the photo app. IOS 16.2. heic format for camera turned on. never received files in this format previously, don't know why it chose today to start doing this.
