XUV 550 hard shifting. My 550 has 41 hours on it and has been back to JD for shifting problems. JD did a fine job, put the new clutch kit in it. It was fine for the next 30 hours, now it is really, really hard to shift. My 550 S4 won't shift out of reverse unless I turn off the engine. With the engine off it shifts just fine. Also when shifting from 4WD to 2WD it hesitates but after few yards it comes out with a load clunk. I have about 20 hours on it.My comment is that if the clutch is working properly, I would ignore it, reinstall the clutch and enjoy life with your Gator. If that clutch IS giving trouble, I would not put money, time and effort into reconditioning that particular core. I would invest in a rebuildable core and recondition it properly. The dealer's tech. said i need a new throttle assembly for the tune of around $800. Worse yet, he said it will happen again at around another 200 hrs.

You can also see how the primary/drive clutch has opened all the way letting the belt "fall" down to the shaft. Basically as the clutch warms up during operation friction increases within causing the clutch halves not to fully disengage.
