In order to eliminate the VOES, Cap the vacuum hose that goes into the manifold the short the two vose wires to make the module think that it has high MAP. It will make the bike more "cold-natured" but really shouldn't hurt it once it's warmed up.

Jul 20, 2004 · The Shovelheads weren't originally fitted with the VOES since most of them were low compression and generally they do not have problems with pre-ignition. Mine is 7.5:1 ratio. So, I think your problem is simply too much advance coupled with the missing VOES. By the way, don't throw that VOES out, a new one costs $65.00! Good luck on this.
